Summary:gut There is an expression "gut-founded" which means that you are hungry. I have often heard this expression, but I wasn't quite sure why it meant what it did. According to a chap from the Goulds, anything that is "foundering" is giving way. Eg. if the ice is foundering it is breaking up or giving away. Therefore, if you are "gut-founded" your gut (stomach) is giv- ing in. Heard from Pat Hefferron, teacher, aged 26 of the Goulds. Used I Used I Not used
