Summary: | fisherman It was a custom that every fine Sunday in summer, a few people would get together and to to an outside cove to cook brewis. At first they would jig a fish and clean it, taking the skin off. An iron bake pot was used to cook it in. Pork was put in the bottom of the pot then some salt beef, then the fish, an onion and on top the hard bread broke up in small pieces. (not soaked before hand). When everything was in the pot water was poured in till the pot was full, then it was placed over an open fire till cooked (about 20-30 minutes). After cooking it was poured out on a flat rock that has been washed clean with the sea and everyone gathered around for a delicious snack. JH 6/75 Used I Used I Not used
