easter a .What they call(ED) _Jacky Light_, that was (THE) one principal thing, _Jacky Light_, what they call(ED). 'twas the _weather-light_. Now I don't know, perhaps I daresay you people have heard the same thing way back, (HEAR?) what we call _Jacky Light_. Somebody report they('YVE) seen _a light_ in the _night_, then how he chased them, this light chased them, you know. Well, _Jack (the?) Light_. Well what it was - there is a.so(me).a certain things as weather. _weather lights_. You'll see _lights_ sometimes. 'Tis the atmosphere, it's phosphorous or something in the air, you know. Well alright, way back.not way back, but (ANYHOW) back in.even in my time, well, certain people (WOULD) see that.that light, and ('TWOULD) move around too. Well alright, they'd see that _light_, and. well that's how the.how the story went: 'twas _Jacky Light_ they called.[IT], _Jack o' Lantern_. And I suppose that's where the name come from, _Jack o' Lantern_. But we.all that I can remember about,IT WAS called _Jacky Light_. And anyway, a little _story_, if you want just a little _story_: this is a little one, anyway, (IF) 'tis worth recordin'. The ole feller - he's dead now anyway - - home, Perry (?) man, he was kind of a.I'd say a devil-may-care feller. He'd cared and never feared for nothin' in a way! _Ghosts_ or.or.alive or dead! You're. on the way home one night, and now on the island we lived in the middle part o' the island, * and there was livye(rs).people lived _down on the easter part o' the island_, about a mile or so. And well about halfways between there.there's a most.supposed to be a lonesly spot there. And always someone always seein' (SEEN??) something there: [a man without a head] or something like this, you know (this turned out to be a stake anyway in a garden: perhaps a fence fell down) but somebody seen him.said they seen [a man last night with no head] there, down in there, halfways down to Eastern Cove, WAS.that's what it was OVER.
