My mother and father would take me and my brothers and sisters to visit our grandparents on Sunday afternoons. We would shyly enter the big living room. The old man and then hard-of-hearing would be seated near the fire place reading. Each of us would approach him to greet him with a kiss. Most of our conversation was 'yes, dada' or 'no, dada.'
