It was used in the different fisheries but with the decline of the fisheries and also the introduction of the outboard motor to Bay of Islands, there is little use for the dory today. There are today - 19 February 1968 - just three of these dories in Gillams. These are seldom used, and when they are it is to "_boat home_" a load of driftwood for fire wood.
