Summary:ditch Another distinctive fence style, called a "ditch" was built on a few farms in Peterborough and along the Cape Shore. A narrow stone wall about 4 feet high was first erected, and an outer skin of sod, shovelled from a dyke dug on either side of the wall, was added.
