Description
Summary:ducks and drakes When skimming flat rocks over the surface of a pond we would say the following phrase. We would start with a duck and increase by one for each skim. A duck and a drake, And a nice barley cake, With a penny to pay the old baker; A hop and a scotch Is another notch, Slitherum, slatherum, take her! We mustn't have been very good at this for it was very rare that we ever threw a stone that skimmed enough to allow us to finish this phrase. This game was known as "Ducks and Drakes".
