We used to dig up every second trench and leave the other ones rounded up. Dis was allyin' up the ground. We put the potatoes (taties) in the ones we dug up. When the taties came up through (trew) the ground we used to put _capeln_ (caplin) on for fertilizer adn den we used to take the mud from the rounded trenches to cover the capeln over.
