Richard Hibbs assembled the first Newfoundland Who's Who in order "to provide a record of the leading citizens of the Country, who in one capacity or another are contributing to its upbuilding and general welfare" (p. [17]). It contains biographical entries of living individuals with some portraits; the sequence is not alphabetical but an index is provided. The vast majority of those profiled are men. It also includes a list of Newfoundland historical events and a review of Newfoundland businesses with illustrations.
