Summary: | This 34 volume set contains typewritten copies of handwritten transcripts of Newfoundland material obtained from the Colonial Office Records in the Public Record Office, London, covering incoming and outgoing correspondence between the Colonial Office and the Governor's Office in Newfoundland, 1780-1825. They were made by Misses Amalia and Leonora D'Alberti, in preparation for the Privy Council arbitration on the Labrador Boundary Dispute in 1927. Volumes are organized in date order with an index at the beginning of most, or in the first volume of a given year. -- Vol. 3, correspondence covering the years 1785-89, is missing at both the Provincial Archives and the Centre for Newfoundland Studies. Cited as D'Alberti papers; catalogued as Correspondence, incoming and outgoing, between the Colonial Office and the Governor's Office in Newfoundland. -- Caution: due to either handwriting or pale type, some document text is not searchable.
