Vols. 1-20 include correspondence with the Board of Trade, 1696-1782; vol. 21 is a "Miscellaneous" volume for 1730-1793; vols. 22-120 comprise correspondence with the Secretary of State, 1702-1844; vol. 37 is a “Miscellaneous” volume for 1783-1786; vol. 41 contains “Promiscuous Papers” for 1771-1798. Beginning with vol. 57 (1816), an annual list of correspondence giving the date, author and brief description is sometimes given at the end of the Governor's correspondence. Title from the Colonial Office records subdivision number, which is how the series is commonly referred to; alternative title from cataloguing title. -- Caution: due to either handwriting or pale type, some document text is not searchable.
