Summary:Julien Thoulet was a French geologist, mineralogist, and cartographer whose devotion to oceanography began with his 6 month voyage to Newfoundland aboard the Clorinda. Thoulet took a leave of absence from his position at the University of Nancy to analyze the topography and geology of the sea floor of the Grand Banks and the French Shore of Newfoundland.
