This book is an account of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. While the the first 200 years of the history of Newfoundland's soldiers (including the creation of the Island's first regiment) are discussed, the majority of the book is dedicated to telling the story of the Newfoundland Regiment's exploits in the First World War. Later activities are included in the book's final chapter, which "shows how the militiamen of today are carrying on as worthy custodians of the great traditions which they have inherited." (pref.)
