Summary: | This play is set in Newfoundland, during different time periods ranging from the island's discovery to confederation in 1949. Each of the first six scenes involves characters from different times in history, with the central character of each scene facing a life-altering choice. The play culminates in the seventh and final scene, which ties all the stories together by showing that while each situation was quite different from the others, the problems faced over the years have been very much the same. New lands was first produced in December 1947, at St. John's.
