This book is an examination of the island of Cape Breton at the turn of the 20th century. Both the economic conditions of the island and the local geography are described. The coal and steel industries are discussed at length, as well as their importance to the economy of much of the North American market. The physical geography of Cape Breton is also described, as well as the different counties, a brief history of Louisbourg, and the local Micmac Indian tribes. A number of photographs from around the island are included.
