This book details the hunting of walrus, narwhale, and seals in Norway during the 19th century. Descriptions of walrus boats and implements are included, such as harpoons, lances, ince-anchors or the haak-pick. Chapters describe the hunt of the walrus in detail, as well as the rough seas faced by the crew, and having to deal with extensive ice floes. Other chapters describe hunting reindeer and other game while docked in port. A number of illustrations are included with this text, such as 'The Chase of the Walrus', 'Walruses on the Ice', and 'Reindeer Shooting'.
