This book is an account of Mr. Warburton Pike's journey throughout Northern Canada. Chapters include information on the Eskimo Indians, caribou hunting, fishing, and the so-called 'barren ground' of the North - the tundra. Much discussion is included on the Eskimo way of life, their social customs, religion, and interaction with French and English travellers. The hunting of buffalo as a way of life is also described by the author, including a section in which he and several Indians go on a hunt. Some information on the Esquimeaux Indians is also included. There is a sketch map of Mr. Pike's journey, and a map of the Dominion of Canada.
