This text is a history of Newfoundland, including tales from the missionaries who had travelled there. Chapters include a geography of the island, a history of the fighting between France and England over St. John's, Methodism and its rise in Newfoundland during the 18th century, as well as biographies of several Methodist ministers. The creation of the Newfoundland and Nova Scotian Missionary Societies are also discussed at length within this book. Other chapters deal with the seal fishery, missions to the Indians in Labrador, and information on travelling through Newfoundland.
