This book contains a history of the Island of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia. Chapters include information on the geography, geology, and local populations of many areas in Cape Breton, such as Sydney, North Sydney and Glace Bay. It also contains a brief history of Cape Breton, in which the Seige of Louisbourg is discussed, as well as the relationship between the English, French, and Micmac populations in the 18th century. The Acadian settlements in Cape Breton are also examined, as well as the growth of the coal industry. Several photographs of Cape Breton in the late 19th century are included within this book.
