It includes chapters on Acadia, Sable Island, the foundation of Port Royal, English settlements in Newfoundland, and the Treaty of Westminster in 1655. The attacks on English colonies from Canada, the treatment of French nationals and Acadians by the English population, and the anti-French ideals of much of the population is also examined. From the 18th century, this book deals with the War between France and England, the seige and capture of Louisbourg in 1745, the unconditional oath of loyalty posed to the Acadians and their subsequent deportation, and the division between English and American settlers at Halifax. Several Indian treaties, including land grants to Indians are included. Other sections deal with the War of 1812, including the capture of Baltimore and Washington, as well as the unsuccessful attempt on New Orleans. The final year discussed in this history is 1827.
