This book details the mutiny of a whaling ship captained by James Fox, as well as his subsequent captivity among the Esquimaux Indian tribe. Several sections of the book deal with the culture of the Esquimaux Indians. Their marriage customs, superstitions, and religious beliefs are all discussed within this text. Another chapter of the book deals with the ship owned by Captain Boyce, which burned off the coast of Newfoundland in the 18th century.
