He worked as a teacher on the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas until his retirement from teaching in 1998. He has been on the Wooden Boat Museum of Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Directors since its inception in 2008 and was involved with its predecessor, the Winterton Boat Building Museum, since 2001.
