He is the brother of Ray Boone of Summerford, New World Island, who is also a boat builder. Lloyd moved to Point of Bay in 1977 and married Cybil Philpott. He worked as a carpenter and learned how to build boats from Cybil’s father, Wilfrid Philpott. Stanley Philpott is Wilfrid's father.
