Bulletins and Journals; The Books of Newfoundland and The History of Education in Newfoundland. -- The second and main purpose of the study was fulfilled in two ways: (1) by sending a questionnaire to one social studies teacher in each senior high school in the province of Newfoundland which resulted in a 60.27 per cent return of questionnaires. The report of findings took the form of a numerical analysis with the help of tables using percentages given to the nearest hundredth. (2) by comparing this writer's findings with those of Glenda Redden, "Fifty Years of Social Studies in the High Schools of Nova Scotia", and A.H. Roberts, "A Study of the Methods and Techniques Used by Elementary Teachers in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in Their Teaching of Social Studies" by using tables and a written explanation. -- Those findings were tabulated, were explained, and deductions and inferences were made covering all three studies. -- This survey best expresses the feelings of our high school social studies teachers regarding the present situation, as they see it and know it.
