It is argued that there will be demands for increased health funding as resources are stretched to cover increasing numbers of seniors accessing the health care system. This research investigated the future health care concerns and expectations of low income women in Wellington, New Zealand and St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, with a view to informing future health care policy for this age group in their senior years. The research also investigated similarities and differences in the women's accounts. The interviews were transcribed and subjected to thematic analysis. Results revealed that the women not only talked about health care, but also about family, community and ageing. The accounts were more similar than different, but areas of difference reflected provision of health care. The findings were interpreted using ideas from narrative psychology.
