A study into the need for a bullying/harassment program at St. Stephen's High School, Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada: a school psychology internship report

The internship for the Master of Education (Educational Psychology) at Memorial University, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada was completed at St. Stephen's High School in Stephenville, Newfoundland. The report consists of a placement component, which includes the intern's goals and objectives; and the internship experiences (activities and learning). -- A research component studied the perceptions of bullying and harassment among students at St. Stephen's High School. A questionnaire developed by a school team of teachers and students was administered to four hundred and thirty-eight students. Results indicated that bullying is a significant problem at the school and that the implementation of an anti-bullying program should be considered to help reduce bullying. This information will be useful for many schools and school boards for future planning and the delivery of anti-bullying programs. Limitations of the research are also discussed.
