Toponymy as an expression of a cultural relationship to the environment has received little attention in the environmental philosophy literature, and it is the purpose of this article to help fill that void.1 Due to the threats facing linguistic and cultural diversity, this paper also addresses the value of such diversity and offers some arguments for its preservation.
