| Summary: | Iceland, despite being a relatively small geographic country, is trying to pursue an active and ambitious foreign policy in the Arctic region. This implies the need to develop a strategy that would realize Iceland’s vital interests and at the same time ensure that the anticipated exploitation of the various Arctic resources does not adversely affect the security of the state. This paper presents an analysis of the concept of Iceland’s Arctic policy and the ways in which it is implemented, with particular emphasis on the main challenges and problems that the state can play in building a stable position in the region. Islandia, pomimo, iż jest w wymiarze geograficznym stosunkowo mały państwem, to w regionie Arktyki stara się prowadzić aktywną i ambitną politykę zagraniczną. Wiąże się z tym konieczność opracowania strategii która pozwoliłaby zrealizować żywotne interesy Islandii i jednocześnie zapewnić, by przewidywana eksploatacja różnorodnych zasobów Arktyki nie wpłynęła negatywnie na bezpieczeństwo państwa. Prezentowany artykuł zawiera analizę koncepcji polityki arktycznej Islandii oraz sposobów jej implementacji, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem głównych wyzwań i problemów, jakie mogą stać na drodze tego państwa w budowaniu stabilnej pozycji w regionie. |
