Special attention is paid to the model of activities of a region (a subject of the Russian Federation), which reconstitutes the dynamics of socio-economic processes, and to the methods of multipurpose management that form managerial decisions on the model of a region. The model of the region’s activities is developed in the class of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models that view development of an economy as a result of activities of the economic agents. The economy of the region is divided into economic agents according to the boundaries of sections and subsections of the Russian Classification of Economic Activities (OKVED) to which the household sector, agent “governmental bodies”, agent “external environment” and agent “invisible hand of the market”, responsible for the balance of supply and demand on the product markets (totally 33 agents), were added. It is shown that the most important task of strategic management is evaluation of attainability of the stated goals, which belongs to the class of mega-dimensional multipurpose management tasks. The author suggests a matrix method of solving this task for dozens of goals, hundreds of managing variables and long-term forecasting horizons. The material of formation of the information base of the region’s model is publicly available regional statistics and reports of different ministries and departments subjected to pre-verification, completion and correction. The developed methods, models and information technologies of regional strategizing were successfully probated while forming the strategies of Altai Krai, Krasnoyarsk Krai and Samara Oblast. The main components of these technologies formed the basis of creation of the series of automated systems and complexes that are used in a number of subjects of the Russian Federation.
