Summary: | This paper deals with the Saami Language in Norway. The Saami people are indigenous people in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Due to the assimilation, which was practised towards them by the Norwegian government, most of the Saami people in Norway can't speak Saami today. But they want their children to learn this language. Therefore, there has to be schools and kindergartens that teach these children Saami language. They are trying to make them bilingual in Saami and Norwegian. The aim of this paper was to point out that there is a difference between laws and curriculum and the reality in teaching children Saami language. |
