The term migmatite refers to a composite rock that contains both residual metamorphic rocks, and igneous rocks that may have formed during episodes of partial melting of the surrounding metamorphic rocks. Sillimanite is an aluminous metamorphic index mineral whose presence indicates these rocks were once heated to over 900°F during metamorphism. East side of Greenland Cove, Bremen.
