No. 0713 Title based on information provided by Roger Durham, Director of the US Army Heritage Museum, 2007. The gun emplacement and design correspond to other images of Fort Putnam taken by Cooley. The soldiers' clean uniforms indicate "garrison" troops rather than soldiers in the field. Milhollen and Mugridge misidentified this photo as "Fort McAllister, Ga.," and it appears with this misidentification in other books and articles.
