The final ground cover of this region was formed by the Pleistocene ice sheet that overlaid the older rock beds with morainic glacial deposits. The till plain of Baisogala is formed of calcareous morainic layers rich in boulders, pebble and gravel. This confirms the intensive exaration of surface and accumulation of a basal till during the last and penultimate glaciations. Therefore it is quite reasonable to name this plain as the basal till plain. Article in Journal/Newspaper Ice Sheet LAEI VL (Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics Virtual Library)
