The purpose of the study was to evaluate the use of prophylactic measures for infectious diseases in Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) held in captivity and cats kept at animal shelters, as wild cats that are infected with an infectious disease spreads infectious diseases for wild felines. The fecal samples of 20 Eurasian lynx and 20 domestic cats were investigated for feline panleukopenia and gastrointestinal helminths. During investigation a single positive sample of FPV was found in European lynx. During fecal examination 10 lynx were found possitive for gastrointestinal helminths. Toxoscaris leonina, Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma sp. eggs and mites and their eggs were found in lynx feces. Four cats were infected Toxocara cats, Ancylostoma sp. eggs. Parasite infection was found to be lower in cats than in lynx (p <0.05) and dehelminthisation in the last month was more common in cats than lynx (p <0.05). During the evaluation of animal welfare the greatest number of inconsistencies was in the diagnosis and prophylaxis of diseases, living space requirements.
