Summary:The main purpose of this article is to document the use and production of handmade tools and gear important for contemporary Evenki reindeer herders' and hunters' subsistence and mobile life in taiga. Evenki communities continuously relay on old technologies and produce identical items to collected ones for the museums by different explorers and anthropologists in the early XX century. This shows that traditional skills and knowledge remained valuable in taiga life throughout XX century and are crucial today for Evenki representations of identity and everyday life in taiga.
