The objectives of the research: to select the extraction conditions of anthocyanins from samples of the blue honeysuckle fruits. Using UV spectrophotometry and HPLC methods to determine the variation of qualitative and quantitative composition of anthocyanins in samples of different cultivars. To determine the qualitative and quantitative variability of phenolic compounds of blue honeysuckle fruits using the HPLC method. To investigate antioxidant activity in vitro of blue honeysuckle fruit extracts. To evaluate the correlation between the amount of identified phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity in vitro. The object and methods of the research: the samples of fruits of blue honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea L.) 'Nimfa', 'Wojtek', 'Indigo Gem', 'Amphora', 'Leningradskij Velikan', 'Iga', 'Tundra', 'Tola' cultivars. Total content of proanthocyanidins and anthocyanins as well as antioxidant activity was assessed by using UV spectrophotometric methods. The amounts of individual anthocyanins and phenolic compounds were determined by the HPLC method. Results and conclusions of the study: by extracting the samples of bluehoneysuckle fruit for 40 minutes with 80% (v/v) ethanol using a 904 W ultrasound power, the highest amount of total anthocyanin content was determined. The following compounds and their amounts were determined using ESC method: cyanidin–3-O-glucoside, cyanidin-3-5-O-diglucoside, cyanidin-3-O-rutinoside, peonidine-3-O-glucoside, cyanidine, cyanidin-3-O-galactoside, peonidine, procyanidin B1, rutin, isoquercitrin, quercitrin, chlorogenic acid, coffee acid, p-coumaric acid and ferulic acid. The strongest antioxidant capacity was determined in extracts of cultivars 'Amphora’, 'Nimfa', 'Tundra' and 'Indigo Gem' using ABTS method, extracts of cultivars 'Amphora' using FRAP method and extracts of cultivars 'Tundra' using CuPRAC method. A correlation analysis showed that the strongest correlation was between the content of anthocyanin cyanidin-3-O-galactoside and antioxidant activity.
