Description
Summary:A plain landscape in Baisogala Valsčius is notable for specific features caused by the deep-layer and near-surface geological setup and development. The final ground cover of this region was formed by the Pleistocene ice sheet that overlaid the older rock beds with morainic glacial deposits. The till plain of Baisogala is formed of calcareous morainic layers rich in boulders, pebble and gravel. This confirms the intensive exaration of surface and accumulation of a basal till during the last and penultimate glaciations. Therefore it is quite reasonable to name this plain as the basal till plain.
