Being involved in creation of the joint NATO defence policy, Lithuania undertakes responsibility not only to defend the national territory, but also get involved in strengthening the entire North Atlantic Alliance. Today, thus, the Lithuanian Armed Forces are undergoing the process of becoming one of the most modern branches of the state in terms of its organisation, obliging, above all, to strengthen the Armed Forces and manage the challenge of structural transformation of the military. The transformation of the military structures and the military training make a high-level challenge set for the commissioned officers of Lithuania. Thus, selection of the suitable candidates for studies at the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania is granted a significant role in deeds of the said Lithuanian military institution of higher education and the Lithuanian Armed Forces as a whole.
