Firstly, it is defined what significance the Arctic had to the policies of the region countries and relations between those countries the in different periods of time and what importance it has now. The key point of the article is to discuss how the international relations in the region are developing after Russia’s attempts to expand its Arctic territory, how the policy of all Arctic countries influences the indecisive U. S. Arctic policy, and what could happen in the future – if the countries will cooperate or confront with each other. Such overview makes it possible to predict what actions the countries could take and what should be taken into the consideration when the talk goes about the Arctic issues.
