As one situation occurs more than once the contingency plan is prepared. Safety in aviation is priority number one, so it is necessary to be ready for any possible situation, which could interrupt air traffic service. The North Atlantic region is the busiest oceanic airspace in the world, extending from the North Pole to 27N and spanning the high seas between Europe and North America. The Organized Track Structure accommodates a high concentration of traffic, which regularly sees traffic flows in excess of 100 flights per hour. Control of traffic in this vast and complex airspace is delegated to a number of states, with their Oceanic Control facilities geographically dispersed. In this report the contingency plans of North Atlantic region will be analyzed considering the safety aspect.
