Impact of climate change on humans and their environment has become an increasing problem. El Nino and La Nina is a complex process of climate change, which causes fluctuations in temperature between the ocean and atmosphere in the east-central Equatorial Pacific. There has been multiple research carried out on the impact of El Nino and La Nina on global climate (Keršytė & Rimkus, 2014). North Atlantic Oscillation is one of the most important factors affecting the climate of Lithuania (Zhang et al., 2011). The increasing impact of El Nino and La Nina processes on the climate, timing of seasonal events, and hence the hydrological patterns of rivers in Lithuania is observed during the past decades. This paper focuses on the statistical analysis of hydrological (river flow) and climatological (precipitation, air temperature) indexes of three rivers of Lithuania – Bartuva, Merkys and Šušvė. The correlation between hydrological and climatological indexes and the impact of El Nino and La Nina on these indexes is determined in this paper.
