Summary: | The objective of the experiment was assessing the impact of oil products spill to Chara aspera in the Curonian lagoon. The main goals of the research were to determine distribution of total, organic and inorganic carbon and total nitrogen; to determine distribution of quantitative and qualitative aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon concentrations in the water and impact of the diesel fuel and fuel oil films on Chara aspera. After analysis the highest amount of total carbon has been noticed after 5 days, because of the increased organic carbon. The highest concentration of quantitative aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons was found to be the one hour after the oil products spill. The evaluation of the individual aliphatic hydrocarbon concentrations in samples with diesel fuel and fuel oil films dominated compounds of low and middle molecular weight (C10, C14, C16, C18, C21). Quanlitative analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in samples with diesel fuel film of the experiment showed the highest concentrations of naphthalene and with fuel oil - naphthalene and fluoranthene. Data of primary production showed that the direct impact of oil products on Chara aspera noticed, because of the decreasing primary production. After 5 days of experiment, the primary production were negative. |
