The restoration progress in Thunder Bay is undergoes an early stage compared with southern Ontario. The four restoration projects and plans of this study were all initiate under the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, Thunder Bay Area of Concern. With the study of City of Thunder Bay Offcial Plan, 2002, a general idea of future development of restorations in Thuder Bay is gained. There will be a increasingly number of restoration projects within 20 years, and the majority of the restorations will focus on the stormwater management and watershed protection. This thesis will begin with the introduction of four restoration projects and plans: McVicar Creek Protection & Rehabilitation Plan, City of Thunder Bay Stormwater Management Plan, George Creek Brook Trout Rehabilitation Project, Mission Island Marsh Conservation Area Master Plan; and delinate the land use policy in the City of Thunder Bay. Followed with the discussion of the further development of restoration activities in the area. |
