By examining mechanisms of repression and resistance targeted at young people in Marcelo Pineyro's Kamchatka (2002), Luis Puenzo's La historia oficial/ The Official Story (1985) and Héctor Olivera's La noche de los lápices/ The Night of the Pencils (1986), this thesis argues that youth played a central role in resisting dictatorship and restoring democracy in the years during and following the National Reorganization Process. Furthermore, through a brief exploration of Santiago Mitre's El estudiante (2011), it is clear that the mechanisms of political activism from the 1970s and 1980s still play an influential role in young people's contemporary political participation.
