The deprivation of liberty of a prisoner for the crimes committed, regardless of the length of his period, causes the breakdown of social relations and the emergence of problems of social exclusion. Convicts in prisons are becoming socially passive, finding it difficult to deal with the household problems they face in being released from prisons. The psychosocial situation of convicts is also influenced by the negative public attitude towards the persons in the prison, they feel excluded and unacceptable to those around them. In terms of work, often chosen a person without criminal records for the job because the public does not trust the former convicts. Motivation to enter society is hampered by those who place the label of the "prisoner" and hinder human resocialization. If the expectations of the former convict are not fulfilled, the person feels unattainable and may return to the measures convenient for him - crimes. These individuals face discrimination, they are stigmatized. Former convicts turn to social services for help. The Red Cross organization in Iceland is one of the social service institutions that provides counseling, information, mediation and representation services, organizes transport, catering, socio-cultural, personal hygiene and other services. In order to prevent possible crimes, it is important to know what socio-cultural services are useful for ex-convicts. Laisvės atėmimas kaliniui už padarytus nusikaltimus nepriklausomai nuo jo laikotarpio ilgumo, sąlygoja socialinių ryšių nutrūkimo, socialinės atskirties formavimosi problemų atsiradimą. Nuteistieji įkalinimo įstaigose tampa socialiai pasyvūs, jiems sunku spręsti buities problemas, su kuriomis susiduria paleisti iš laisvės atėmimo vietų. Nuteistųjų psichosocialinei padėčiai įtakos turi ir neigiamas visuomenės požiūris į kalinimo įstaigoje buvusius asmenis, jie jaučiasi atstumti ir nepriimtini aplinkiniams.
