Description
Summary:vi, 40 p. Gizzards of 1724 Canada geese and 291 Mallard Ducks were collected during 1977, 1978 and 1979 waterfowl hunting seasons in Allegan County and surrounding areas. The gizzards were analyzed to provide a base line for the amount of lead and steel ahot ingested in the Allegan populations of Canada geese and Mallard ducks. Ingestion ranged from 1.46% to 4.44% of the Canada goose population with a greater percentage of steel ingested. In Mallard ducks, ingestion ranged from 0.005 to 7.62% of the population with a greater percentage of lead ingested.
