Description
Summary:The research has the objective of evaluating the effect of the pods of Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr., in the feeding of Pelibuey sheep. It was developed in the “Terranova” farm, in San Luis, Santiago de Cuba. 32 male sheep were used, distributed in four groups and an initial average weight of 18.52 kg, with a completely randomized design; with four treatments for 48 days (0%, 10%, 20% and 30% of Ss). As a result, it was obtained that the pods have a high nutritional value and their use as a supplement in fattening sheep showed a high significant difference (<0.001) in terms of body weight, average daily gain and supplementation conversion. It is concluded that the best results were with Ss at 10% and 20%, followed by 30% with respect to the one that did not receive pods of this type.
