FROM DIFFERENT TROPHIC CATEGORIES OF NEOTROPICAL FISH. In order to investigate the concentration of mercury and the bioaccumulation in fishes, we sampled three commercial species belonging to different trophic categories (omnivorous - Pterodoras granulosus [Siluriformes: Doradidae], detritivorous - Prochilodus lineatus [Characiformes: Prochilodontidae] and herbivorous - Schizodon borellii [Characiformes: Anastomidae]) in the Upper Paraná River floodplain, Brazil. Samples were performed in the flood period, in three rivers of the floodplain: Baía, Ivinhema and Paraná. For the determination of the concentration of mercury, muscles samples of the captured specimens were subjected to a process of digestion and then were analyzed using an atomic absorption ... |
