Geological formations which build that region include Pleistocene and Holocene sediments of glacifluvial, fluvial and eolian character, that is glacial gravels, sands, gravels of the Dunajec river and loesses. The Dunajec and Biała Rivers are primary sources of Carpathian gravels and sands. Identification of rock raw materials (Tables 1, 2, 3a*, 3b*, 4*) was limited to macroscopic studies and field surveys. The majority of raw materials occurs in direct vicinity of the site and is fully described in literature (e.g. Kamieński ed. 1975; Radwanek-Bąk, Bąk 1999). Conducted field survey allows concluding that a part of raw materials in the form of pebbles originates undoubtedly from the Dunajec gravels, another part comes from fluvioglacial formations mixed with sands and sandy soils from the Wojnicz region (Fig. 1), while the rest are flysh materials from the Wieliczka Foothils (Fig. 2). Analyzed assemblage encompassed approximately 3210 rock fragments, including sandstones 54.39%, quartzose sandstones/quartzites 26.62%, granites 11.50% and slates 3.80%. The remaining 4% consists of diabases, cherts, quartz pebbles, ochre, tripoli and loess. Rocks of the Scandinavian origin, which are exotic from the standpoint of geology, were brought to the analyzed area as a result of ice sheet activity. For prehistoric communities they were local materials. It can be generally declared that population inhabiting the present-day sites 48 and 18 at Wojnicz used almost exclusively locally or mezzo-locally acquired raw materials.
