Od końca ubiegłego wieku w dużych miastach na świecie powstaje coraz więcej budynków o przeszklonych elewacjach. Szkło jako materiał architektoniczny jest nasycone dużym potencjałem semantycznym, który projektant − nadawca architektonicznego kodu − może wykorzystywać. Użytkownicy szklanej architektury − odbiorcy tego kodu − dzięki transparentnym ścianom doświadczają szczególnej relacji z otoczeniem – widzą przestrzeń zewnętrzną i sami mogą być widziani.Dla poznania idei i założeń projektanta szklanego obiektu oraz doświadczeń jego użytkowników dokonałam studium przypadku, na który wybrałam budynek Akademii Sztuk Pięknych im. Eugeniusza Gepperta we Wrocławiu autorstwa Pracowni Architektury Głowacki PAG, otwarty w 2012 roku. Jako główne narzędzie badań empirycznych obrałam wywiad kwestionariuszowy. Cenne spostrzeżenia i uwagi rozmówców wynikające z codziennego przebywania w przeszklonych pomieszczeniach – dotyczące oświetlenia, relacji z zewnętrzem, potrzeby intymności itp., stanowią interesujący materiał poznawczy i mogą być pomocne w pracy projektowej. Naturę szkła, jego historię i znaczenie w architekturze – celem pogłębienia podjętego tematu – opisałam w teoretycznej części pracy, która poprzedza prezentację części badawczej. Since the end of the last century, more and more glass buildings have been built in major cities around the world. Glass, as an architectural material, is saturated with high semantic potential, which can be used by the designer as the sender of the architectural code. Users of glass architecture − the recipients of this code − thanks to transparent walls experience a special relationship with the environment − they see the external space and they can be seen by the external observers. To get to know the ideas and assumptions of the designer of the glass building and the experiences of its users, I made a case study, for which I chose the building of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław designed by Pracownia Architektury Głowacki PAG, opened in 2012. I chose the questionnaire interview method as the main tool of the empirical research. Valuable insights and remarks of the respondents resulting from their daily stay in glazed rooms − regarding lighting, external relations, the need for intimacy, etc., are interesting cognitive material and can be helpful in design work. To deepen the topic I described the nature of glass, its history and importance in architecture in the theoretical part of the work that precedes the presentation of the research part.
